Vintage Inspirations: Wicked Awesome Things

Happy Wednesday and almost Christmas. I wanted to share some wicked (hello Bostonian accent) awesome things from this past month.
1. Crayon Paintings
So easy, yet a very messy, project!

2. Using nature to decorate! It’s free and festive… Can’t beat that!

4. Wrapping
This year I got a little aggressive while wrapping and pulled out my arts & crafts box to step it up a notch. I used my owl stamp and glitter words to make each present unique.

Vintage clothing, Retro Furniture and albums

Northampton, MA
Stores: Retro Genie, Turn It Up & Roz’s Place

Ahh… Northampton. Full of eclectic shops, vintage clothing and yummy dining options. I headed to this hidden treasure (I’m talking for all of us who didn’t go to college in Western Mass) a few weeks ago with my boyfriend’s cousins – Rachael and Ian.

Let me tell you, these two are pros at hopping around town. They know the good vintage shops, the delish burger joints and the local museums. Lets just say that hanging with these two crazy kids was an adventurous treat!

Here they are… Ready to shop 🙂

Retro Genie – 26 Strong Ave
This place is a blast from the past! The first floor is full of unique vintage clothing, while downstairs has numerous retro housewares and furniture. The quality was great, however, keep in mind, prices were on the higher end. Check out the photos from this hot spot!

LOVE this store for so many reasons.
Number 1 – you can listen to any CD before you purchase
Number 2 – prices are 30-50% cheaper then if bought retail
Number 3 – they have an amazing collection of DVDs, CDs and records

This was a great vintage store. They had fantastic clothing, all at affordable prices. We had a blast trying on clothes and picking up a few Christmas gifts.

I choose pieces that could be worn at any holiday party and then again at a non-holiday event. It’s important to buy clothes you can wear more than once!

Providence, RI – Act II

Act II – 802 Hope St. – Providence, RI
Overall Thoughts: A fantastic mixture of one-of-a-kind vintage pieces and designer labels.
Recommend: This store is a great spot for quality vintage clothing and a unique shopping experience!

This Wednesday, I am being featured as a stylist on the Rhode Show! Very exciting, especially since I never started this blog to become a stylist or be on TV. My goal remains the same – to encourage people to shop at second-hand stores.
Finding a store to work with me on this stylist piece was not as easy as I thought it would be. Lucky for me, the ladies at Act II are darling! They were so excited to host me and share this exciting experience with me.

Act II is located on Hope St. In Providence. The area is full of other adorable shops and restaurants. So get ready to spend a few hours poking around this area.

Vintage inspiration can be found throughout the entire store.

They have Lots of options to choose from. From vintage to high-end designers, they have it all. At first, I was nervous I wouldn’t find anything awesome enough for TV! However, after five minutes my problem was finding too many fabulous finds. Since, I was only choosing three outfits for my styling segment, I had to make the right choices!

Is this the right dress… Hmmm!

20121203-185236.jpg
What about this one?

Or maybe a pretty scarf?

Paired with a pair of sexy shoes? As Carrie Bradshaw says “hello, lover”

20121203-185607.jpg
The clothes started to mount up!

Loved these bracelets! Chic city gal meets vintage cowgirl.

20121203-185758.jpg
If I could have chosen this dress I would have! Gorgeous and glamorous!

20121203-185850.jpg
Or maybe rip off this already dressed mannequin! Ha!

20121204-070127.jpg

So what did I chose? You will have to wait to see! Tomorrow, I will share the link to the segment.

In the mean time head into Act II. The store a s staff are superb!!!

Happy Holidays 🙂
