ADVICE FOR YOUR NEXT ROAD TRIP:
There is no better time than now to go on a road trip, especially in New England! The weather is fantastic and let’s face it, our window for great weather is getting smaller by the day. Just returning from a three-month cross country trip, filled with challenges, adventures, activities, and memories, I consider myself an expert on road tripping … just kidding… but I do want to share what I found makes a successful road trip!
CHOOSE THE RIGHT TRAVEL BUDDY:
My first and most crucial bit of advice is to pick the right travel buddy! Choosing your travel companion is so important and can make or break your trip. Here are a few questions to ask yourself to help you decide if your friend can also be your travel buddy:
Do you both enjoy similar activities? Do they spend money in a similar way as you do? Do they enjoy experiencing new adventures? Are they understanding? Can they make decisions? Are they a good person?
If any of your answers are a right-out NO, then they’re probably not the right travel buddy and I advise you to keep looking!
EXPECT & ACCEPT CHALLENGES:
Anytime you travel, no matter if on a road trip or going by plane, boat or train, you should expect a challenge. Not only should you expect it, but love it. Remember that this challenge is a sign that you’re experiencing and learning something new. And how awesome is that?! Soak-up the challenge at hand, and remember, you’re learning at the same time.
Road trips always bring adventure! Getting lost, deciding where to go, discovering random places, meeting nice and not so nice people, driving through unpredictable weather, and handling the map, are all sure to add excitement to your journey. Learn how to accept and appreciate the challenges in the adventure, as these are the moments you will most likely remember the most.
SEEK NEW ACTIVITIES:
When you’re on your trip, remember to try something new! Be adventurous and give that paddle board a go or maybe try the waterfall rock climbing outing … whatever it is you’re interested in, try it. You won’t regret spending the money on a super cool adventure.
If you’re traveling through New England, you’re in luck! From Maine down to Rhode Island, these states are jam packed with fun activities to try. So get out of your gym routine and try something new; like wind surfing on the cape, sailing in Newport, paddle boarding on the Charles River, kayaking the Clyde River or hiking Mt. Washington.
LIVE IN THE MOMENT:
Don’t plan everything on your road trip. That’s boring and I can assure you, it will not go accordingly, it never does. So save yourself the stress and let yourself be free to live in the moment. Wake-up and say “what do I want to do today” vs. planning your daily activity weeks out. By trying new things, exploring new locations and living in the moment, I have discovered what makes me, me. I challenge you to do the same.

Don’t forget to put the GOOD in good morning!
